Sacrament of
Baptism
"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission." (CCC 1213)
INFANTS & YOUNG CHILDREN: Baptisms are celebrated on selected weekends. To prepare for their child's baptism, registered members of the parish complete a baptism application and attend baptism preparation classes on selected Saturdays throughout the year. You may register for classes and schedule the baptism by calling the parish office at 660-582-3833
ADULTS AND CHILDREN OLDER THAN 7: Baptism may be arranged through our RCIA & RCIC Programs. Please contact our Religious Education Director at 660-582-3833.

Sacrament of Confirmation
Confirmation is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine relationship, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds. (CCC 1316)
YOUTH: Confirmation is offered every year. Students who request this sacrament are prepared through a special program offered with our high school religious education classes. The suggested year in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph is freshman.
ADULTS: Uncatechized adults prepare with the RCIA class.
To register or for more information, please contact our Religious Education Director at 660-582-3833.

Sacrament of Eucharist
The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” “The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.” [CCC 1324]
CHILDREN: First Holy Communion for children is a parish event. First Holy Communion is allowed when a child reaches the ‘age of reason’, normally considered the 2nd grade. Preparation is the combined effort of parents, the sacramental prep director and catechists during the second semester. Dates are announced through St. Gregory’s School, our religious education program and the bulletin.
ADULTS: First Holy Communion for adults is through the RCIA program.
For information please contact our Religious Education Director at 660-582-3833.

Sacrament of Penance & Reconciliation
“Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God’s mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.” [CCC 1422]
CHILDREN: First Reconciliation for children is a parish event. First reconciliation is allowed when a child reaches the ‘age of reason’, normally considered the 2nd grade. Preparation is the combined effort of parents, the sacramental prep director, and catechists during the first semester. Dates are announced through St. Gregory’s School, our religious education program, and the bulletin.
ADULTS: First Reconciliation for adults is through the RCIA program.
WEEKLY RECONCILIATION: Confessions are offered on Saturday 4:15-4:45pm or by appointment.
ADVENT & LENT: Communal penance services with several priests available for individual confessions are announced in the bulletin.

Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
The Church believes and confesses that among the seven sacraments there is one especially intended to strengthen those who are being tried by illness, the Anointing of the Sick . . . [CCC 1511]
SERIOUS ILLNESS OR SURGERY: Contact the parish office at 660-582-3833 or contact the pastor before Mass.

Sacrament of Marriage
"The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament." (CCC1601)
Engagement or betrothal is a very sacred time in the life of any couple, a time of joy, a time of reflection, a time of getting to know one another and each other’s families, a time of planning, of dreaming, a time of giving great thanks to God and to one’s family for so many gifts and blessings.
We ask the couple to set aside time to pray and think about the covenant, the union of marriage.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION: Diocesan policy requires a nine month to one year period of preparation. An earlier contact facilitates the process greatly. Please contact the parish office at 660-582-3833.
ANNULMENTS & DISPENSATIONS: We have several Advocates available to provide confidential assistance. Please contact the parish office at 660-582-3833.

Sacrament of Holy Orders
“Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees: the episcopate (bishops), presbyterate (priests), and the deaconate (deacons).” [CCC1536]
Those interested in learning more about becoming a priest or a permanent deacon are encouraged to contact our pastor at 660-582-3833.
