Catholicism
Saint Gregory’s Catholic Community invites you to learn more about the Catholic faith.
What does “catholic” mean? The word “catholic” means “universal,” in the sense of “according to the totality” or “in keeping with the whole.” The Church is catholic in a double sense. First, the Church is catholic because Christ is present in her. . . . Secondly, the Church is catholic because she has been sent out by Christ on a mission to the whole of the human race. Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraphs 830 & 831.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
This is a process of instruction and community building for those interested in becoming Catholic or who want to learn more about the Catholic Church. In the early years of the Church, the process was called the Catachumenate and the person joining the Church was called a Catechumen.
This process is for:
• Adults never baptized who might desire to become a Catholic
• Adults baptized in another Christian church who might desire to become a Catholic
• Adults baptized Catholic who have not received full reception into the Church through the Sacraments of Confirmation or Eucharist
• Adult Catholics who would like to update or deepen their knowledge of the faith.
Sessions are held during the school year – September to May. A reception into the Church with Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist is held at Easter. People interested in participating should contact our Religious Education Director at 660-582-3833 for more information.
RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children)
This process is similar to RCIA, but is geared for children 7 years old through high school. Classes begin in the fall and lead to reception into the Church at Easter. Contact our Religious Education Director at 660-582-3833 for more information.
