Seventh Grade News

Wow! I can’t believe that the school year is already over! Time really flies when you are having fun! We finished off the year by reading Freak the Mighty. This book is very humorous and the kids can really relate to the characters. We learned that the characters were based on real people, but that the plot line was fictional.

Next year we are going to be doing some AWESOME things in 7th grade. One of the best things we do at the beginning of the year is having the food drive for the Ministry Center. We get to have class contests and count all the food that we collect. Even better, we get to take a field trip to the Ministry Center and put it all away!

I am looking forward to spending time with my children this summer and vacationing at my in-laws condo at the Lake of the Ozarks. I am sure that the summer will fly by as quickly as the school year, but we will enjoy it immensely!

Some ideas for keeping your child in the “reading frame of mind” this summer:
Participate in the summer reading program offered at the library. They win really cool prizes just for reading books!
Refer to the reading list that was sent out. There were some really good books on the list (then they might not be scrambling for a book for their first book report this fall!)
Utilize the websites that were listed in the school newsletter. There were many that offer games and quizzes to check for comprehension

HAVE A SUPER-DUPER SUMMER!!!!!
