We are really enjoying getting to know the characters in our reading novel, The Man Who Loved Clowns. Punky is a 35-year-old man with Down’s syndrome who lives with his 12-year-old niece, Delrita. This book is written by June Rae Woods, a Missouri author. This book is also a Mark Twain Award winner. This book has been a fifth grade favorite in the past. In religion this month, we will be learning about parables and the sacraments. During Easter, we made Easter Candles and studied about the symbols that are placed on the candles. We have just completed our unit on pronouns in English and will be learning more about adverbs. Ms. Hickey, our student teacher will be teaching science this month. She is teaching us about earth science. We will be focusing on the layers of the earth, the different types of rocks, weathering and erosion. She will be teaching until April 25. Be sure to mark May 9 on your calendar. This is our field trip date to the Omaha Zoo. We would love it if any parents could come and join us. I will be sending more information as the trip gets closer. It was great talking to all of you at conferences. Thank you for all of your support, it really shows in your children.
