Kindergarten Summer News
If you are a parent of our 2007-2008 kindergarten class, I want you to know that we had an awesome year and that your children have been a blessing to me, to all the people they have prayed for this year, to the people in nursing homes, to the school, parish, to the birds and squirrels they fed and the list could go on. Our acts of kindness grew and grew in number. Have a safe, peaceful and relaxing summer. Read to your child everyday, what a great way for your child to relax at bedtime or out under a big shade tree in the afternoon. Give your child at least 4 hugs a day, and if you work in more hugs than that, you should get a trophy.
If you are the parent of one of our 2008-2009 kindergarten children, the same goes for you as far as the reading, relaxing and hugging goes! Also, take you child on fun adventures this summer. Go on a picnic, go fishing, go to the lake, the library, help at the animal shelter, climb a tree, bake cookies, play out in the rain, plant flowers or vegetables, put up a birdfeeder, lay a sleeping bag out on the deck and watch the stars (meteor showers in Aug.), have a water gun fight (parents too) and have your child draw pictures for grandparents, neighbors, friends etc. Most of all do things together as a family.
When you go to get groceries, to the pool, to eat out, the park etc., as you pull up to a corner ask your child if you should turn right or left and go the direction she/he gives you. It may take a little longer, but they will be learning left and right. Hide something in the house and give right and left directions for finding it and let them do the same for you.
Read books, read books and read more books to your child!!!!!!!!!!
When school starts next year, your child will need to bring a photograph of him/her doing something fun in the summer. We’ll use the pictures for their “Child of the Week” story posters. The children will also need an empty clean peanut butter jar for a paint jar. Enjoy those peanut butter sandwiches!
Have an awesome summer and I’ll see you in August!
